PCD Insert for Aluminum Heads & Blocks - 1/2"
High quality PCD insert for cylinder head and block milling machines. This single sided PCD insert is .500" round x .125" thick and is compatible with standard machine tooling. A 1/16" shim is required when using in a DCM Tech machine or other tooling that requires inserts .1875" thick.
PCD Inserts are still the best choice for resurfacing aluminum. Because of the unique metallurgy of aluminum and the chemical interaction present with heat, CBN does not give the appropriate surface finish that PCD can provide.
PCD Inserts consist of a layer of Polycrystalline Diamond bonded to a carbide substrate. As an added benefit, the carbide back can be used for aluminum heads after PCD side is used up.
Remember to clean all tooling thoroughly before installing a new PCD inserts. Metal chips, debris or dirt can cause the insert to become misaligned in the tool holder and possibly damage the insert or the work piece. When the cutting edge of the insert becomes dull, simply rotate the PCD until a new cutting edge is presented.
